Sandy Guerra is the sunshine that warms up our Oakdale office. She works part-time helping Dora Cordova with receptionist and secretarial duties. You would never know upon meeting her that she learned to walk again at the age of 41. You see, Sandy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 22 years ago, and today WE CELEBRATE 20 YEARS since she began the chemotherapy treatment that doctors said might give her 3 years of good health. The treatment slowly brought her back from the debilitating illness that left her wheelchair bound. The therapy was new at the time, and some doctors would have been afraid to try it on Sandy. Today, Sandy Guerra is a walking miracle in remission from M.S., and she is a beautiful and inspiring soul to boot! Appropriately, her two favorite quotes are: “Too blessed to be stressed,” and “Don’t sweat the small stuff because it’s all small stuff!”
Sandy came to work for us after getting to know Karen Basi, who started the Wave of Hope Foundation to raise money to help those suffering from M.S. Karen, as many know, also received an M.S. diagnosis many years ago. Recently, Sandy found this article from the Oakdale Leader about the Wave of Hope Foundation fundraiser that brought the 2 women together and helped a wonderful guy named, Scott. The Wave of Hope Foundation MS is still offering grants and scholarships. For more information contact [email protected] or [email protected] or ask for either of them at our office (209) 847-3065.
